- Joe is overpaid a total of $4,872.
- The new pension rate is $830 per month, but the VA will use that amount to start repaying the $4,872 debt.
- If your payment before you went to prison was $210 or more, your new payment amount will be $108.
- If you were getting $108 before you were imprisoned, your new payment will be $54. Note: If you are released from incarceration – participated in a work release or halfway house program, paroled, and completed sentence, your compensation payments will not be reduced.
