Job #88153

Job Description: A great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and people and tongues, standing before the throne..." This is our desire as we seek to reach those people groups that are unreached and unengaged. In Shillong, the capitol city of Meghalaya, there is wide range of people groups from all over North East of India. The college campuses there are filled with young students from many different backgrounds. Many come from an Animistic background in tribal people groups. Still, many others are Hindu, Buddhist and Christian. This job would entail going to college campuses to build relationships with the students there. The goal would be to form rapidly reproducing evangelism/discipleship groups. This job would also provide an opportunity to travel to other towns in the North East to teach Church Planting Movement (CPM) trainings for leaders from local churches. The desired result of these trainings would be to facilitate CPM's among unreached and unengaged people groups. The IMB personnel in the area will be available for initial field training, setup, and field supervision, but you will set your own day to day schedule. You will be working alongside national partners, but will spend a large amount of time facilitating your own ministry

Strategy Description: This job seeks to target a large range of people groups that are unreached and unengaged. By working with college students in the city of Shillong, we hope to be able to share Christ with them and then send them back to their respective villages to share with their families. This could potentially be used to find a catalyst (or a man of peace) to start a CPM among these people groups

Geographic Description: Shillong is located in North East India in Meghalaya which is one of the 'Seven Sister' states. Meghalaya is full of hills covered with dense jungles. It has fairly cold winters and very mild summers. Animism is the predominent religion but there are also Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians (primarily Catholics). Because of the many universities in Shillong, it is a major gathering point for young people from many different people groups.

Leader Description: A servant who is mature and able to keep focused on the task. Maintains unity among team and supervisor. Keeps communication clear and open with team and supervisor.
