| Persons filling this role would be asked to travel extensively. As a pair you would be travelling to many different areas of the Northeast in order to train church networks, partners, and lay people in the 5 Parts of the Church Planting Plan and other Best Practices. Training national believers is exciting and essential. You will work with and train existing networks, as well find new networks in which to train. Best Practices training will help further the work in engaging any of 30 Unengaged Unreached people groups known to be present in the North East. The N.E. includes the "Seven Sister" states (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura) as well as the state of Sikkim. You would be training in many or all of these states during your term. | ||||||||||||||||
| Pairs would work closely at first with field supervision and transition to national partners capable of carrying on the work. Your desire should be to multiple yourself as a trainer in the nationals. Persons taking this role will be expected to come as learners with a teachable spirit. You will be learning from the nationals as well as teaching them to be obedient to the Word of God. You will be looking for fruitful and faithful men and women to help reach the UUPG’s of Northeast India. | ||||||||||||||||

| Description of people: N.E. India is all about variety. From the Himalayas of Sikkim and Arunachal to the plains of Assam, Tripura to the Hills (Think the Rockies) of Nagaland and Meghalaya geography is varied. Expect extreme heat, and extreme cold on the same trips. Peoples are also varied. N.E. has many tribal communities as well as mainstream Hindu castes. As the first year would be spent encountering many different networks and partners, the second year would likely lead to follow-up and deeper commitment with your partners. | ||||||||||||||||

| Explore- Persons filling this role would be asked to travel extensively. As a pair you would be exploring the corners of N.E. India in search for any of 30 Unengaged Unreached people groups known to be present. The N.E. includes the "Seven Sister" states (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura) as well as the state of Sikkim. | ||||||||||||||||
| Engage- Once peoples are located biblical plans for entry strategy into these peoples would be employed in the hopes of either locating believers or winning the first believers among them. Little is known about these peoples at this point. This necessitates research on worldview, language and cultures of these peoples. Information gathered would greatly aid continued efforts to engage these peoples with a Church Planting strategy. Pairs would work closely at first with field supervision and transition to national partners capable of carrying on the work after the assignment was completed. | ||||||||||||||||

| We hope you like fishing! Because,the Jalia Kaibarta are a people group who live and work along the rivers of Assam and Tripura as fishermen. This is an exciting role that offers an opportunity to engage an unreached, unengaged people group (UUPG). You will be working as a part of the “Ends of the Earth” team accepting responsibility for people not yet a part of the Rev. 7 choir. As an “SC” intern for this group you will be planning and facilitating strategy for their engagement. This involves initial research of the people’s worldview, language, culture and the logistics of their exposure to the gospel. Training in the best practices used around the region will be provided. This amounts to the best Church Planting training available anywhere in the world, taught in hands-on situations. | ||||||||||||||||
| Description of people: Originally from a community of Orissa the Jalia currently number more than 700,000. 318,000 Jalia are listed in WB in the 1981 census. The word 'jal' carries two meanings. 'fishing net and water'. The Jalia mother tongue is Bengali though currently most are first language Assamese speakers. These non-vegetarians are occupied with fishing, agriculture and wage-labour. Recently the Jalia have responded well to modern health programs and possessed a 30% literacy rate in the 1981 census (rather high for that time). The Jalia are said to have been recent migrants to TP settling in the west Tripura districts. The pop. within TP is 52,000 (1981). surnames: Nag, Sarkar, Chowdury | ||||||||||||||||
