East Asia Project # 0106-11 University Work
City A
Ideal group size: under 12 persons
It is preferable to come January-May 2011, before we go on furlough; however,
we do have a colleague who can continue university work while we are gone.
We are looking for volunteers who have a love and burden for university work in a modern city with a population of 10 million. Participants should be able to share their testimonies and the gospel using such tools as the Four Spiritual Laws, EvangeCube, or Good News bracelets. We also need help identifying Persons of Peace, who will be gate keepers to their universities.
There will be opportunities to meet multitudes of Chinese teachers and students in the classroom, at English corners (meetings where students and career people gather to practice English and talk about various topics of interest) and outreach activities. Typically, we ask volunteers to create a 3 minute PowerPoint presentation to introduce themselves, celebration of holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. Then there are opportunities to meet in smaller groups and individually and share about how to have true meaning and purpose in life through Christ.
Participants should be flexible, enjoy building relationships, and be able to turn the conversation to knowing Christ personally.
